The PASH Board Candidates for the fiscal year 2019-2020 include Lisa Collins, Suellen King, Ruth Strange, and Amy Whitley.  Below are brief bios and goals if elected to the PASH Board for each candidate.

LISA COLLINS, Bedrock Production, LLC

PASH Experience – Years of Service, positions, committees:
I have been a member of PASH for 13 years as a standing member of the Joint Interest committee.

Experience in other COPAS Societies – Years of Service, positions, committees:
I was a charter member of the San Juan Basin Society in April 1998.  I served as the 1st Joint Interest Chair and held the position for 2 years.  San Juan Basin held the Fall, annual conference in October 2005.  I was a member of the planning committee and the tour chairperson during this conference.  My membership tenure in the San Juan Society was for 7 years.

Other Industry Organizations:
Involvement in other industry related organizations (TSCPA, IPAA, AAPL, API, Desk & Derrick, etc.): I am a member of TSCPA.  I regularly attend conferences and meetings.

Why would you like to participate on the PASH Board of Directors?
I have been dormant too long.  As we continually educate ourselves, we indirectly continue to educate the next generation.

Do you have any particular goals that you would like to see implemented if you are elected to the Board?  My goal is to ensure the next accounting generation is aware and can add value to our industry.  I’d like to see as many new accountants shape our organization by participating and taking the lead on topics of interest.

Suellen King, Oasis Petroleum

  • 2012 to present           PASH member (Audit, Picnic and Education Committees)
  • 2013-2014                   Vice Chairperson of Audit Committee

  • 2017-2018                   Board of Directors – Vice President
  • 2018-2019                   Board of Directors – President

Why would you like to participate on the PASH Board of Directors?
It has been so much fun, I do not want it to end!  I have really learned so much in the leadership positions within PASH.  I believe I can continue to add value by remaining on the Board.

Do you have any particular goals that you would like to see implemented if you are elected to the Board?
If re-elected to the Board, I would continue to support the needs of the society initiatives.  The Board needs to continue to improve the website and simplify the processes.  It is also very important that the Board continue to mentor and grow the members as well as increase active participation from ALL of our existing members.

RUTH STRANGE, Poole Auditing Consultants

PASH Experience – Years of Service, positions, committees:   less than one year experience

Why would you like to participate on the PASH Board of Directors?
I would like to see our Society have a large impact on COPAS at the National level, helping drive policy and making our industry better for it.

Do you have any particular goals that you would like to see implemented if you are elected to the Board?  Increasing but definitely maintaining current membership

Why would you like to participate on the PASH Board of Directors?
During my first several years as a PASH/COPAS member, I took a great deal of pride and enjoyment in being a very active and involved member.  I actively served on several projects and lead three committees in my first seven years of membership.  I was then very excited to be nominated and subsequently elected to the Board of Directors in 2016.  However, a series of unfortunate events in my life, particularly surrounding a forced job transition and the flooding of my home during Harvey, prevented me from performing up to my full potential as a Board member.  I was unable to be as involved as I would have liked in implementing many of the ideas that I supported.  My work and life circumstances have now gone back to normal, and if given the chance at another term, I would like to pick up where I left off in 2016 and put my best foot forward in doing great things for PASH/COPAS.

Do you have any particular goals that you would like to see implemented if you are elected to the Board?
I would like to rally support from the Houston society in growing the COPAS APA program.  I think that the work COPAS is currently doing can be greatly enhanced by support from the more active societies, and I would really like to see the APA accreditation become more widely recognized and valued within the industry.

I would also like to take an active part in planning the PASH sponsored 60th Anniversary COPAS meeting, which will take place in 2021.  We have a great committee in place planning the event, and I would like to be able to help provide any needed support that will be required from the PASH Board.

Other than that I would like to see more interaction between the local and national levels.  Unfortunately, many of our local members are unable to attend the national meetings for various reasons and therefore miss out on the benefits of that attendance.  I would like to take some actions to bridge that gap by either enabling/encouraging more involvement at the national level or creating new ways of collaborating among the membership to share information and ideas about activity taking place.
